Foundational Intelligence Lab
Orientation precedes intelligence.
Exidion is a Swiss association building an open research agenda around learning, meaning, maturity, adaptive self-correction, agency and responsibility under pressure — before future forms of intelligence become technical systems.
For funders, labs and researchers who want to strengthen the human foundations future intelligence may need.
Registered Swiss association based in Zurich. Exidion is currently in the review process for tax-exempt status.
Long-term, open foundational research into orientation, maturity, meaning and responsible judgment.
No commercial implementation, consulting arm, product development or exclusive access.
Why Exidion exists
A public-benefit lab for foundations that need time before application.
Exidion starts from a practical observation: systems can become powerful before the human foundations around orientation, responsibility and judgment are sufficiently understood. The association gives these slower questions an open, non-commercial research frame.
Exidion does not commercialize a method, build products or act as an implementation arm. Its role is to clarify foundations — learning, maturity, meaning, agency, epistemic integrity and the provisional Human Drift question — before they are translated into criteria, models or systems.
Acceleration increases the need for orientation, not only performance.
The human foundations of maturity, agency, meaning and drift remain under-specified.
Open foundational research keeps concept, hypothesis and evidence visibly separated.
A lean Swiss association protects public-benefit research while capacity is built.
Research before application.
Basic research into the conditions that make future forms of intelligence understandable, responsible and orientable.
Reducing avoidable ambiguity.
A research problem: how people and future systems retain direction, responsibility and judgment under speed, pressure and complexity.
Developmental regulation under pressure.
A field for studying how judgment may become more integrated, self-correcting and responsible across development and context.
A provisional research proposition.
A working label for investigating how agency, reality-correction, orientation and adaptive self-regulation may shift under complexity and pressure.
Research agenda
One integration field, three research layers, five priority questions.
The agenda is deliberately narrow enough to navigate and broad enough to fund: integrate the field first, then define what can be studied, challenged and published.
How do complex systems create, lose or regain orientation?
Exidion treats orientation as an emergent property: shaped by feedback loops, development, incentives, meaning, agency and evidence contact. Computational integration is the research infrastructure for making this visible — mapping concepts, literature, criteria and competing explanations into structures that can be reviewed.
This is not a software capability claim. It is the methodological layer that helps foundational questions become explicit, comparable and testable before anyone translates them into applications.
Learning, meaning, maturity, agency and responsibility under real pressure.
Definitions, thresholds, markers and distinctions that can be challenged.
Concept, hypothesis, review and publication are kept visibly separate.
What is learning beyond performance improvement?
Search, updating, transfer and self-correction under uncertainty.
How can maturity be defined without reducing it to a slogan?
Criteria, thresholds and transitions between maturity levels.
How do biases, motives and maturity levels interact?
Correlations and criterion links under pressure and ambiguity.
What is Human Drift?
A provisional research proposition for shifts in agency, reality-correction, orientation and adaptive self-regulation under complexity and pressure.
Which drift forms are distinguishable?
Current typologies remain hypotheses until construct overlap, alternative explanations and measurement boundaries are reviewed.
Scientific landscape
An interdisciplinary field needs a clear orientation map.
Exidion locates its work across four research territories. The purpose is orientation: enough structure for serious discussion, without presenting unfinished synthesis as a settled field.
Maps concepts, literatures, criteria and evidence into reviewable research structures.
Definitions and thresholds are treated as research problems, not finished instruments.
Human Drift, maturity and orientation must be tested against existing fields, construct overlap and competing interpretations.
Where Exidion publishes foundational research, it is intended for public benefit, not exclusive use.
Method and evidence status
Slow enough to be credible. Structured enough to be useful.
Early ideas become useful only when their assumptions, evidence status and limits remain visible. Exidion’s research practice is built around independent challenge before formalisation.
Clarify terms, assumptions, existing literatures and explicit boundaries.
Connect concepts computationally and conceptually so overlaps and gaps become reviewable.
Translate qualitative ideas into criteria, thresholds and possible indicators.
Test construct validity, unit of analysis, measurement boundaries, alternative explanations and expert critique.
Share outputs openly where scientific, ethical, legal and data-protection conditions allow.
Foundations
Learning, maturity, agency, meaning and orientation under pressure.
Criteria
Markers, thresholds and distinctions that can be examined and refined.
Human Drift
Provisional mapping of possible shifts in agency, reality-correction, orientation and self-regulation.
Open outputs
Working definitions, reviews, research notes and later publications.
Governance, independence and publications
Open research needs clear boundaries.
Exidion is not a commercial path for applied models, software, implementation or advisory services. Research questions, publication decisions and use of funds remain with the association’s responsible bodies.
Some things do not need acceleration. They need orientation.
Prepare careful, literature-grounded research outputs.
No white paper, manuscript, preprint, dataset or validated instrument is offered at this stage.
Human Drift remains a provisional research proposition until it survives scientific challenge.
Open research network
Choose the right way to contribute.
Exidion is forming an open research network for funding, independent scientific challenge, methodological critique and future grant-funded collaboration. It is not presenting a funded lab, named research partners or a finished internal research team.
Support open foundational work without exclusivity or product delivery.
Challenge the framingReview construct validity, assumptions, competing explanations and measurement boundaries.
Support the research frameDiscuss bounded cooperation with explicit publication, independence and non-endorsement logic.
Start with a bounded research conversation.
The useful first step is narrow: what question, resource, critique or funding condition could help Exidion strengthen open foundational research before formal collaboration or public claims?
- Appropriate: funding, independent challenge, expert review, methodological critique, research cooperation or institutional support.
- Not appropriate: exclusive access, product delivery, consulting mandates or proprietary commercialization through Exidion.
- Public partner, advisor, endorsement and team listings are added only when roles are agreed and cleared for publication.
FAQ and association facts
A clear public frame for the association.
The essentials are deliberately simple: legal form, contact, tax-status wording and the boundaries that protect open foundational research.
Association
Registered, lean and still being built.
Exidion can speak clearly about its legal form, purpose and boundaries. It does not yet present a public research team, funded lab, partners or publications.
Swiss association (Verein), registered in Zurich.

Exidion, Seestrasse 345, 8038 Zurich, Switzerland.
Exidion is currently in the review process for tax-exempt status with the competent authorities.
Is Exidion an AI company?
No. Exidion is a Swiss association for open foundational research. It is not a software provider, implementation partner or advisory firm.
What kind of support is useful now?
Funding, independent scientific challenge, methodological critique, institutional support and carefully bounded research conversations are useful at this stage.
Is Human Drift validated?
Human Drift is treated as a provisional research proposition. It must be tested against existing literatures, construct overlap, alternative explanations and future evidence before stronger claims are made.
Are there public publications?
No public Exidion white paper, preprint, dataset or validated instrument is offered at this stage. Future outputs must be claim-audited and clearly labelled.
Can partners get privileged access?
No. Exidion’s research is positioned for public benefit. No partner receives exclusive rights, privileged access or a commercial special position.
